Living Room Refresh

Ahh! Hello, hello my sweet readers! So sorry I have been M.I.A. for an entire month! I wish I could say it was because I was taking a nice, relaxing spring break. Truth is, life has The end of the school year is quickly approaching and I am continuing to add things to the to-do list! Butttt, I feel this way every single year at the end of the school year and I manage to make it through. So, this too shall past! :)

Ok, so truth moment know how I always say that my living room is my absolute favorite room in the house? It is where we spend most of our time and I just love how cozy the room is. Welllllll, I am also ALWAYS changing and switching things, which means nail holes. And when I say nail holes...I mean nail. holes. everywhere. This usually wouldn't be a problem, right? Just patch up the holes and paint over them. Easy! Well, in my case, I had no  idea what color paint was in our living room. We painted the walls almost 4 years ago when we first moved in and I have no idea what happened to the paint can. And me trying to match the color was just not in the cards. I can't even pick out a single color that I like the first time around (you'll hear more about this later). So, my only option was to repaint. Guys, I swear my husband just LOVES me! ;)

For this little refresh I knew I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone. You guys know I love white, cream, beige, white, white, and white. I was really loving the grays with blue/green undertones. So, that is what I decided to go with. I may or may not have been at Lowe's 4 times in one day just dealing with paint color. Eeeek! See, I told you! I am terrible with picking out paint color! Anyway, I was reallllllly interested in the Sherwin Williams gray/blue/green colors. To start, I tried the following colors...

And yes I tried all of them! AH! I loved all of the colors, but the problem was that they looked so different in my house. When I looked at the paint sample sheet my favorite, without a doubt, was the Sea Salt. When I applied the sample to my wall it looked almost baby blue. I was very surprised by how much the blue came out in this color. My favorite color on the wall was the Woody Rosemary. I did not expect to like this color, but once it was on the wall I fell in love. My only concern was that it was a little dark. It looked great initially, but it dried a bit darker. So, are you ready for the color I went with??? Drum roll please...... I went with a mix of Woody Rosemary, Muslin Bolt, and Villa Grey (Valspar Paint). Yep, I made my own color! We had some extra Villa Grey paint from when we completed our bathroom makeover, so I just mixed a little bit of that in with the the other two Sherwin Williams colors. I painted a paint stir stick with the color I created and took it into Lowe's to have them color match it. I could not have been happier with the color match! Downside, I don't really have a "color" to share with you, but I do have the  paint creation number, which I can share with you if you would like! :)

My goal for the decor was to simplify. Don't get me wrong, I liked what we had before, but I was just starting to feel like there was a lot going on. I just had the urge to clear out! I think this new look is a bit more clean and simple looking. I still love my neutrals, but this wall color just creates a whole new look in our living room. The best part is that it cost me under $50 to freshen up this space. I rearranged decor and used things I had laying around the house. I spent money on paint and the hanging baskets which I found at the Goodwill for 97 cents a piece!

I am so happy with how this room turned out. The fact that I have a color on my wall still shocks me...but I have to say, I am loving the change! I hope you all had a great Sunday and have a fresh start to a new week!
