Living Room Refresh

Ahh! Hello, hello my sweet readers! So sorry I have been M.I.A. for an entire month! I wish I could say it was because I was taking a nice, relaxing spring break. Truth is, life has The end of the school year is quickly approaching and I am continuing to add things to the to-do list! Butttt, I feel this way every single year at the end of the school year and I manage to make it through. So, this too shall past! :)

Ok, so truth moment know how I always say that my living room is my absolute favorite room in the house? It is where we spend most of our time and I just love how cozy the room is. Welllllll, I am also ALWAYS changing and switching things, which means nail holes. And when I say nail holes...I mean nail. holes. everywhere. This usually wouldn't be a problem, right? Just patch up the holes and paint over them. Easy! Well, in my case, I had no  idea what color paint was in our living room. We painted the walls almost 4 years ago when we first moved in and I have no idea what happened to the paint can. And me trying to match the color was just not in the cards. I can't even pick out a single color that I like the first time around (you'll hear more about this later). So, my only option was to repaint. Guys, I swear my husband just LOVES me! ;)

All About the Feelings: A Little Reflection

Happy Sunday! I hope you were able to enjoy some R&R this weekend with those that you love most! Although I was under the weather for most of the weekend,  I still got to spend some quality time with my boys snuggling on the couch. Some may say that I'm not living my young life to the fullest, but I am so content hanging out at home with comfy clothes, take-out, and a good movie! Home has become my favorite place to be. Never in my life did I think I would become a homebody, but here I am..."Mrs. I love being at home!" Enough about my weekend and let's get started with this post!

I am totally a "feeling" person, which I think I shared with you all before. I want our house to feel like a home, I want the kiddos in my classroom to feel loved and supported, I could go on and on with feelings. But once again, I read something by the one and only Joanna Gaines that gave me all the feels! As she was reminiscing over Spring at the Silos (which I will be a part of one day! ;)) and thanking all of those involved, she said this...

"When I think about all the behind the scenes diligence and effort it requires to pull something like this off, I just want to hug each and every member of our Magnolia family. Our Bakers working through the night- making sure we have enough goodies on the shelves for the day, the garden/grounds team who have created magic everywhere you look, our unbelievable staff who have worked so tirelessly and selflessly, the Police Officers who have been there to keep us all safe, the amazing artisans and vendors who have traveled from all over this great country to set up shop here for the week, and to ALL of our visitors who have been so patient and kind- When we get to experience the look on your faces and hear your stories, this is what makes all the hard work worth it... Thank you for spending your time with us here in Waco. We hope you leave inspired, refreshed, and if there's a dream in your heart... May it rise up and may you have the courage to go for it."

I love the last part of this for so many reasons...

1. Joanna wants you to leave your visit at the Silos feeling inspired and refreshed. I can relate to this in a few ways. I became a teacher because I wanted to inspire my kiddos each and every day. I wanted to make learning fun and inspire them to do great things. I started this blog to help ease my mind from the everyday chaos, but to also inspire you. Whether it be my home decor or words, I hope you read this blog and feel inspired to do whatever great things it is that you are meant to do!

2. My husband always says that I'm the dreamer and he is the realist in our relationship. He may be right, but what fun is life if you don't dream a little bit?! He usually ends up supporting my dreams and visions in the end and I love him for that! Again, I think about my students. I want to encourage them to follow their dreams and reach for the stars. I also want the same for you. I can honestly sit here and say that starting a blog was never a "dream" of mine. I never envisioned I would be sitting here on a Sunday night typing up a blog post for enjoyment. But when the thought of starting a blog popped into my head, it quickly became a little dream... a little what if? And here I am each week typing up a new blog post. My twenty-fifth blog post to be exact. Whatttt?! If you have been following along you already know that this little blog has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. As crazy and cliche as it sounds, I think I was meant to find this place to call my creative outlet.

3. It also made me think of one of our most recent church services where we were reminded that the greatest gifts in life usually come from taking the biggest and most terrifying steps of your life. Finding the courage to start something new or following a dream is downright terrifying. A few months ago I was going through a rough time and truly needed the grace of God to pull me out of the "funk" I was in. It was during this challenging time in my life that I found a new relationship with the Lord. It was an instant peace. It taught me that even through those challenges and scary times, there are great things to come.

So, thank you again for sticking with me until the end of this heart-to-heart post. Like Joanna says, "We hope you leave inspired, refreshed, and if there's a dream in your heart... May it rise up and may you have the courage to go for it."

Creating a Welcoming Entryway

Happy Fixer Upper night! I hope you all are having a great start to your week! With Monday being the first day of Spring, I am in full "BRING ON THE WARM WEATHER" mode! For real, I am so ready for having the windows open and warm summer nights. Even though yesterday was the first day of Spring, I have been preparing our house for a few weeks now.  I think I had the bright spring flowers in my house since...umm January? Whoops! Oh well! For this post I thought I would share a few ideas to style up your entryway. You really don't need anything fancy, so grab a cup of coffee or whatever floats your boat and get comfy! :)
